NaPRiC hosts the NAPRECA -(U) annual symposium 2024
The NAPRECA Uganda Chapter annual symposium 2024 and AGM was organized to disseminate research outputs on natural products research under the theme: “Mining natural products for sustainable development”. The symposium was attended by 97 delegates including established researchers, industry professionals, policy-makers, early-career scientists, postgraduate students, entrepreneurs and investors. Among the local institutions that participated included Busitema University (Host), Makerere University, Mbarara University, Kyambogo University, Kabale University, Kampala International University, Gulu University, Secretariat of Science Technology and Innovation – Office of the President, National Drug Authority, and Natural Chemotherapeutics Research Institute. International participants were from Tanzania, Zimbabwe Kenya, Egypt, Cameroon, Pakistan, Malawi, Zimbabwe and Zambia. The conference included keynote speeches, oral presentations, panel discussion, networking events and exhibition of innovative products and technologies related to natural products. A total of 17 scientific papers were presented and 10 products were exhibited. The symposium was followed by the annual general meeting of the NAPRECA Uganda Chapter. The symposium was sponsored by: UPPSALA University, International Science Program (ISP) and Busitema University Natural Products Research and Innovation Centre (BUNaPRiC).
