The seventh Science Technology and Innovation Forum 2025

Dr Samuel B. Obakiro was one of the panelists in the parallel session that discussed the progress and strategies of attainment of SDG3 and SFG 8 at the seventh Science Technology and Innovation Forum 2025 held in Kampala.

He represented the academia during the panel discussion and contribute to providing STI solutions that can accelerate the attainment of the set targets. Among his submissions were the adoption of climate resilient health  strategies like Biotechnology, green synthesis and nanotechnology in production of pharmaceutical products , harnessing the power of artificial intelligence in drug development, diagnostics and manufacturing and stimulating local manufacturing of essential medicines and health supplies.
He underscored the importance of sustainable utilization of our rich biodiversity through bioprospecting and value addition to traditional and complementary medicines.
And all these need deliberate and intentional funding and infrastructure advancement by governments. But for sustainability, there is need to create meaningful mutually beneficial partnerships and embracing science diplomacy as a powerful tool to make STI contribute to economic growth.
